Do not stay at Mandalay Bay - Scam!!

I went to to check in last weekend, and did the $20 trick to get a suite. The lady threw the money back at me and said, they don%26#39;t have any suites! Har! I guess the $20 trick has met inflation and she was wanting $50! I know there are tons of rooms available and they think they can get away with this.

So I took my regular room and it was disgusting. Dark, dirty, the remotes hardly worked(you had to point them at just the right spot). I should have taken my business elsewhere. As far as gambling goes, the machines were tight, tight, tight!! Not one jackpot or good hit of any kind! Its obvious they are a tourist trap and are robbing people left and right. Lukily for them, most of their clintele have so much money, it does%26#39;nt matter to them.

Burger Bar was horrid. I should have gone to In-and-Out burger. Could have had a much better burger for 1/10th the price!! The buffet was not good at all. Too many kids, and the crab legs were tough to open.

Don%26#39;t get me wrong, the place looks amazing, but its just a huge vortex of a tourist trap waiting to take your hard earned dollars. The Wynn,Bellagio, and venitian are prob the same way.

i%26#39;m sorry about your experience at MB, but just remember that just b/c you offer a deskclerk $20 doesn%26#39;t guarentee you an upgrade, and IF s/he accepts the $20 and gives you an upgrade, that doesn%26#39;t guarentee your a suite. sometimes an upgrade is just a room facing the strip.

btw, how did last year go with the Gold Spike? did you try your $20 trick there too? we never heard anything afterwards.

you don%26#39;t seem to have much luck with the ';trick';. perhaps if you DESPERATELY want a suite, you should book a suite - to ensure you%26#39;re not disappointed.

Well, they aren%26#39;t charitable organizations...:)

all casinos are out to rob you of your money!!!...thats the business there in, there not there to line your pockets with $$$

Just beacuse you didnt happen to win on them doesnt make them tight, tight, tight !!

Two tone or two cents?

This is the first time I%26#39;ve heard anyone complain about having to point the remote at a certain spot. My tv%26#39;s are like that here at home. Shall I fling them out the window? I never realized how traumatic this was. I usually...point them at the right spot.

And imagine! A casino that wants to take your money!!! I%26#39;m so glad you posted, I never would have realized that.

I didn%26#39;t know you can expect to get upgrade to a suite from a regular room with a $20 trick. Wow, I thought I knew everything about Vegas. Live and learn.

Seriously? ';Huge vortex of a tourist trap waiting to take your hard earned dollars.'; What do you think VEGAS is? Did you expect to hit it big?

Maybe the $20 %26#39;trick%26#39; didn%26#39;t work because she%26#39;s too proud to be bribed. That%26#39;s what you tried to do you know. Judging by your post you EXPECT things. Did you stop to think that maybe it was the way you asked or how you approached the desk that was off-putting?

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I%26#39;m sure others have had them as well at Mandalay. Literally thousands of people stay there all the time. You can%26#39;t possibly please everyone. From the sounds of it you are hard to please.

Oh... what happened to the Gold Spike %26#39;Suite%26#39; you were looking for with your college friends? Perhaps you had a little too much %26#39;fun%26#39; last weekend and someone told you that the Gold Spike was Mandalay? My advice... don%26#39;t go back. ALL the places in Vegas are designed to part you with your money and they do it quite well.

That is the trouble with the scams the hotel industry has been running for years.

It goes like this, you book a room at a certain price and then when you arrive they give you that room that you booked. It is a travesty that they don%26#39;t let you book a cheaper room just to get a suite upon arrival.

I have been protesting and writing my congressman for years about this scam and it just continues. The lobbyists must be giving lots of money in DC to alow this to have gone on for so long.

Geeesh! I think you were in the wrong place! I stayed there in Feb and had a fab room on the 33rd floor looking up the strip, very clean room. No $20 trick to get it, didn%26#39;t demand or even ask! The food at the buffet was wonderful. I didn%26#39;t eat at the Burger Bar, but it is a known fact that it is a restaurant, not an In and Out drive thru! Yes there were kids there in Feb....no one bothered me or made me watch them! And it after all IS in Vegas where you should not go with the expectation that they are going to GIVE YOU money!!!

It amazes me how some feel they are entitled to an upgrade because they offer up 20.00 as a bribe. If you really wanted a suite you should of booked a suite.
