Should we book a day trip to the Grand Canyon before we go?

Three of us are going to Las Vegas in April from a Thursday to a Monday. We wanted to spend a whole day on a Grand Canyon tour.

Should we wait until we get there to book the tour through our hotel? Or to ensure seating on a tour bus, should we book it before we arrive?
