Is there a stand out downtown restaurant ? If YOU were to have a meal DT where would it be and why ?
Downtown RestaurantHugo%26#39;s and Magnolia%26#39;s come to mind, but we%26#39;ve never eaten at either...but others here post about their wonderful meals.
The Binion%26#39;s Steakhouse also gets positive comments and there%26#39;s a nice view according to other forum members.
We%26#39;ve only done the buffets and 777BrewPub downtown so can%26#39;t personally speak about the restaurants.
Downtown RestaurantBinion%26#39;s Ranch Steakhouse, great cuts of meat and the price is right and a great view from the top floor of the hotel.
Downtown standouts: Redwood Bar %26amp; Grill in the California Hotel %26amp; the Second Street Grill in the Fremont Hotel.
A lot of posters tout Hugo%26#39;s Cellar, but it%26#39;s not our favorite by a long shot. It%26#39;s too noisy to be a romantic retreat and it%26#39;s not called a Cellar for nothing, but try to find the restrooms.
We have ate at The Flame (Elcortez) Binions Ranch steakhouse and Vic and Anthonys at the Golden Nugget-All were very good with V%26amp;A%26#39;s being the most upscale. We got a HUGE lobster there and had it split for us and it ran us about $98. (just the lobster) - This next trip I am going to try the Grotto at the GN. I have heard nothing but great reviews on here for it and I love good Italian!! We will be staying there and get a coupon for it as well!!

The Grotto at GN is OK - food is pretty good, however the dining experience is rushed almost to the point of absurdity. I%26#39;ve eaten there twice (again, the food is good) but once, our entrees actually arrived before the bottle of wine we ordered! The other time wasn%26#39;t quite as bad, maybe only because we knew what to expect. In my experience, though - they want you in and out of that place in a hurry.
Triple 7 Brewpub at Main Street Station is good, excellent value, good food - but not fine dining - it%26#39;s got pub in the name for a reason.
Hugo%26#39;s Cellar. It is one of my favorites.
Andre%26#39;s Downtown
Dh and I spent our 15th wedding anniversary here. The setting is romantic. The food is fantastic. We did a wine and food pairing. It was one of the best dining experiences we%26#39;ve had! It was spendy, but for a special occasion, it%26#39;s the best!

I believe Andres downtown has been closed for a couple of months or more.
I%26#39;ve eaten at Flames twice now and it is very good with exceptional service. I%26#39;m not an upscale diner so that%26#39;s basically my input for that but I do like Magnolia%26#39;s in the 4 Queens and the Bay City Diner in the Golden Gate.
Pullman Grille at Main Street Station. Probably the most underrated restaurant downtown.

I%26#39;m heartbroken! Dh and I were planning a return visit this spring. :(
