I have started my trip report. Tt is getting wordy per my usual. Oy!
I went to Vegas with two friends, to go to the wedding of two other friends. Bonus - my Big Brother Chitown Gambler would be in town at the same time. And I could experience some of St. Patrick%26#39;s Day in Vegas at the same time. :)

RANT - This is just to say that I positively despise the Disney-esque roundup that is the taxi line at McCarron Airport. There has got to be a better way to herd! Particularly when it is not busy, people should not be forced to manuever miles of stanchions with luggage in tow when there is NO ONE there!

Bally%26#39;s
Check-in probably took a total of 15 minutes, but it felt like ages because we had a 10 pm wedding to get to at the Little Chapel of the Flowers. The bride and groom specifically booked a 10 pm wedding so that the last two arrivals (myself and a longtime friend and co-worker) plus a guest who tagged along with us, could be there. The check-in clerk had nothing available with the Eiffel Tower and Lake Como view, but assured me I would be room changed on Sunday and she hoped the noise from the elevator shafts didn%26#39;t bother us too much. These rooms in the corner beside the elevators are a great size, the view was pretty good, Bill%26#39;s, Flamingo, Caesar%26#39;s BUT yes, OMG, those elevators are incredibly LOUD! It%26#39;s too bad, because there is a wet bar and there is an area right outside the bathroom that has an extra vanity type area and the closet, which was handy.
Well for now we just rushed to get changed and freshened up because it was about 9:20 pm. We were out the door and in the cab line at 9:40 pm, luckily we got a fantastic cabbie who understood what ';get us to the church'; on time meant, he was fantastic and we arrived seconds before the never-saw-her-glowing-like-that-evah! bride was escorted down the aisle by her brother. She was of course sooo happy that we made it and not surprised that we made a dramatic entrance.
The minister did a really nice job and it really was a touching ceremony. Here is a tip for future bride and grooms - we realized after the fact that the photographer was able to spend alot of time with them because he was not rushing to do the next two or three weddings. There is an advantage to being the last wedding of the night. :) After the obligatory pix on the grounds, the party of seventeen was limo-ed to the Palazzo for a post wedding dinner at Grand Lux. Well, our first server got into a little tiff with the groom over what kind of vodka was in the cosmos (all she had to do was open the drink menu and check, I think it was Absolut Citron), she just kept saying it was a good brand of vodka (I know for a fact that servers for that company are required to know the entire menu, my friend served at Cheesecake and had to take a 400 question test on the menu and get a 90% on it, in additon to separate drink menu and dessert menu tests). She was replaced by two new servers who fell over themselves making the groom and the rest happy (and the bride never even knew there was a tiff that happened while she was changing into more comfortable clothes in her suite), which is how it should be). No one heeded my warning of the large portion sizes. One of my friends was actually embarassed by her plate of chicken parm, it was so monstrous looking. I had the crab cake appetizer as my dinner and they were really very good. The mixers for the martini style drinks were much too sweet. I had a pomegranate martini and then switched to a cosmo and they were really both too sweet for me. Someone got some kind of mango slushie that looked amazing.
It was late and we headed back to Bally%26#39;s. My roomies went to bed and I hit the floor at Bally%26#39;s. I find the staff at Bally%26#39;s to really be exceptional. Never had this happen before - I hadn%26#39;t seen a CW so I went to the VP bar closest to the South Tower and ordered a Grand Marnier straight up. The bartender gave me my drink and said ';I see you%26#39;re playing the machines on the floor, I%26#39;m not going to charge you for the drink';. These are the kinds of things that make Foxy happy friends, really! That is awesome customer service I have never had THAT happen anywhere else. I took my drink over to some dollar Top Dollar and had the machine up to $350 on a $40 investment, I cashed out back down at $90 for a $50 gambling profit on my first night. I played around some more and went to bed around 4:30 am.
I listened to the elevators off and on, in and out of sleep and then WTF!!!, one of my roomies turned the tv on at 7:30 am when I was sound asleep. Because she can%26#39;t sleep w/o the tv on. Well, I cannot sleep with lights flashing and noise, so now I was awake. Thanks. Tossed and turned, got up and into the shower at 8:15 am. Very good water pressure, love those really good-sized bathrooms in Bally%26#39;s South Tower. The other girls got up and meandered through the morning, we made a coffee run downstairs to NOSH and left the room for good around 10:45 am, destination the Paris buffet for brunch.
I warned the girls that if there was a line at the buffet, we would be heading on to the Spice Market Buffet at Planet HO. Well of course there was a line, so on through Paris we went. We were given $2 or $5 off coups outside, I can%26#39;t remember which. There was a line at SMB also, but it moved and kept moving, so much more quickly than I know would%26#39;ve happened in Paris. I%26#39;ve never been to SMB before, it was very good. best part was when I went ot order a bottle of champers and Tiffany our server told me about the refillable glasses for $3 each. Well, keep it coming Tiffany! (And she did, we sat there imbibing and catching a grand old doozey of a buzz for quite some time after we were done eating). Tiffany figured out that we drank a bottle each. My favorite way to start the day in old Las Vay-gas!
We did a little vp, vbj and vk gambling in Planet HO, found machines side by side and continued having some good drunken laughs. Managed to get a round of drinks, played a little more and were ready to leave. I suggested a trip to Fat Tuesday%26#39;s and led the way there where we loaded up with slushies. We proceeded outside and crossed to catch some Dancing Water at Bellagio. It was the first ime for either of them seeing the water dance to music, now for crying out loud, don%26#39;t tell me I can%26#39;t remember what their first song was, hmm . . . I%26#39;m going to put on my thinking cap - what was it? Ok, I cheated and looked at the song list, it was ';Singing in the Rain';. Classic, beautiful, wonderful. After the show we took some pictures of a cute family and they took some pictures of some drink girls. :)
Well now we needed to hit Walgreen%26#39;s and we started walking through the claustrophic scaffolding at City Center. Luckily there is a way out just when you can%26#39;t take it anymore, and we crossed back over. We still had our slushies and just like the beat, the buzz went on. After Walgreen%26#39;s the girls were mightily distracted by the Hawaiian Marketplace and did some damage there. By the time they were done (I was of course soooo ready to get back into a casino) I had a new tank top that has a play on my last name on it (one friend bought us all tank tops, one of them is akin to the slightly famous Azz Juice t-shirt owned by my Big Brother in that the owner can never wear it in public) and I now own one of those cool pretty, swirly metallic things that you hang up outside, mine is of the Welcome to Las Vegas sign, in silver. So that was nice of them.
Time to move on but we may as well get a slushie refill seeing that we%26#39;re so close to Fat Tuesday%26#39;s, so back into the Miracle Mile we go. This time we got rainbows, what a great idea, the slushie server girl went down the line of slushies and put a few ounces of each color into our glasses. WOOT! Rainbows Rule! Oughto, now we are drunk and in a mall, drunken shopping is inevitable. I%26#39;ve said it before and I%26#39;ll say it again - Friends Don%26#39;t Let Friends Shop Drunk! But they did and my new supposedly alcohol free perfume does indeed have the word alcohol listed the first ingredient on the content list. Well, at least I didn%26#39;t try and drink it, good thing we stopped at Fat Tuesday%26#39;s first!
Soooo, back into the casino we eventually ended up and we had to play the Elvis slot machines before we left. No wins and time to move on back to Bally%26#39;s. I packed a bag and went to check in at the Venetian with plans to meet outside of the LOVE theater at Mirage at 9 pm. Time was wasting away, so I took a cab to the V. Walked right up to the invited guest check-in line (LOVE that!) and the nice check-in girl said no problem when I requested the Venezia Tower. I managed to follow her directions and find the right elevators easily. My Bella Suite, floor 6, # 238 was the last room on the right, nice and private and oh so lovely. I really fell hard for the Venetian friends. The rooms are beauteous, sumptuous, comfortable, clean, spacious. I do so love that bathroom. I love it all. The staff is friendly and accomodating, extra effort is made to remind you that are as special as you think you are. :)
So far so good Foxy.
