Skywalk

Hi, my wife and I will be back in Vegas in September.

Having seen the steep prices for the air and road tours to Skywalk, Iam considering driving there myself (especially with the price of the UKpound). has anyone done this before. Is it easy to find. is it worth the drive. How long does it take and how much does it cost for entry.

Any info would be welcome.

Thanks

Davy!!!

Skywalk

I believe with the Hualapi fees %26amp; entry fee it comes to $60-70 a person IIRC. It is however frowned upon by all rental car agencies (and banned by some) to drive there as there is quite a bit of dirt road driving on which road conditions may be sub par. Check with your rental company before you try it because I%26#39;m sure it would be a heck of a fee if you went there and weren%26#39;t suppose to and the car happened to have a GPS tracker in it, which many if not most rental cars do nowadays.

Skywalk

Don%26#39;t book this until the experts jump in. You might not do it from everything I have read here.

Well I am one of the few who actually liked it and would do it again! Here%26#39;s my review from last May-

Experts? Most of the Anti Skywalk posters admit they have never been.

Any particular reason why you want to visit the Skywalk rather than South Rim at Grand Canyon National Park?

I%26#39;ve never been to Denny%26#39;s on the Strip for breakfast either, and I don%26#39;t recommend that either! :)

There are much better ways to experience the Grand Canyon than the Skywalk, just as there are much better places to have breakfast than Denny%26#39;s. I don%26#39;t have to try all the bad places in order to know the good ones.

The cost per person will be about $90.

If you choose to drive your rental vehicle there you will be violating the rental contract.

Have a nice day.

But have you been to another Denny%26#39;s?

Dont drive a rental to Grand Canyon West, Davy. Its futile. Unpaved entry road, not many posted directions from the highway, and then the cost to enter GCW itself. $20 parking, $30 shuttle,$8 environmental fee,$40 Skywalk entry and no personal cameras allowed...that is steeper than some tours. Skywalk didnt impress me when I went 3 weeks ago. Its a gimmick structure. Pity the fool who rent sedan or limo to GCW.

Hi Davy,

We went there early March, hired a car from Hertz and the guy even told us how to get there so no ban! It took approx 2-3 hours drive but I wasn%26#39;t booting it. I can say that it is nice to see the canyon than close but you have to pay to get on the reservation about $50 each, then you would have to pay another $50 to walk on the skywalk and you are not allowed to take any cameras on there with you so you would then have to pay extra for the picture to prove it!

There is a demonstration by some indian dancers and of course a gift shop but overall it isn%26#39;t really worth it IMHO!

We found it was good to drive yourself but you still have to park up and take a bus to the canyon and the drivers want tips too.

Hire a car anyway and go to the outlet mall and all the casinos off the strip, that should make it worth it!

hope that helps.
