Palace Station - I need advice

So I%26#39;m staying at Palace Station from April 9-12. The total price came out to less than $100 including taxes through orbitz. Does anyone have any experience getting a room upgrade at this hotel. I booked the courtyard and want to get a tower room. Should I just ask for the upgrade politely, try the $20 trick, pay for the upgrade?

Also, how is the drink service when you are playing the slots? Poker room? VP bar? What%26#39;s the minimum you need to have in the VP machine to get comp drinks from the bartender?

Any help is appreciated

Palace Station - I need advice

I%26#39;ve stayed there once and I%26#39;m still getting discount offers. Try giving the hotel a call and asking them if you could get an upgrade you might get lucky! If that doesn%26#39;t work I would still try again when you arrive. Service seemed fine and it was a fun place with lots of extra games and raffles going on. I liked the big machines that gave you change, cashed your credits and told you what points you had on your players card.

There is no minimum on the machines to get drinks as far as I know and I don%26#39;t play much, just remember to tip and they will take care of you!

Thank you, I will definitely sign up for their players club.

Are there any good places to eat at Palace Station?

There%26#39;s a place called the oyster bar there, is outside the steak place they have, right near the players card desk. I highly recommend it. They have various ';pan roatsts'; that they cook right in front of you. My wife and I usually shared one, and had some oysters and another app (either clam chowder, or shrimp cocktail). We%26#39;ve been there on our last two visits to vegas and think it%26#39;s one of the best meals we%26#39;ve had. The price is resonable, around $50 for the two of us after tax and tip. The only catch is that the bar only seats I think 15, and it%26#39;s first come first serve, so a large party will have to either split up, or end up waiting a long time. We had only two people, so we just squeezed in whenever there were two seats together available.

I%26#39;ve stayed there a few times. It%26#39;s an okay place. In spite of asking for a higher floor I never made it above 5. The parking garage is the only view I ever had there. I did eaves drop on one conversation when I was checking in, they seemed unflexible in waiving the higher rate for a tower room. Also, they have an added ';resort fee,'; as do all Station Casinos. It was $5.95 a day the last time I was there.

Stayed there a year ago. The courtyard rooms are older and a little worn but for the price I did not expect the best. There is a resturant just as you enter the casino. We have ate there several times and it was good food for a fair price. The buffet could be missed as we did not care for it thetwo times we tried it. THe casino was nice for a small place. The drink service was somewhat hard to find at times.

We stayed there last trip, requested upgrade to the tower room and $20 per night was the reply. I declined and then she said $10 additional per night was as low as she could go, so I took the deal. The tower rooms are worth $10 or $20 per night additional and would pay it again. We ate at the 24 hour coffie shop/cafe several times. The food was very good and cheap compared to most places, I was impressed with the quality and freshness of all the different items we ate over several days. I believe there is only one kitchen for all the restrauants and if you order an Italian dish at the cafe it is the same quaility that you get in the more expensive Italian place down the hall, same for steak or mexican, etc... Drink service was good in casino, no experience at the bar. Overall I like the Palace Station, it is not very popular with the rich or younger crowed, it kinda reminds me the way Vegas was in the eighties before the mega resorts. A little more quiet and relaxed. There is an additional charge per night that you have not paid yet as already stated in other reply. I did not like that and thought they should simply raise the room rate instead of adding fees, seemed low class to me.

I visited Palace Station for a few hours last year. Ate at the buffet for lunch. Was very good, and cheap -- cheaper still if you have their players club card, so sign up.

I played VP at the bar. I usually alternate between max bet and 3 coins or so, and I didn%26#39;t have a problem keeping the beers coming.

A guy next to me ordered Red Bull %26amp; vodka, and you would have thought he ordered caviar served with a golden spoon. The bartender had to get a supervisor to sign off on it.

The customer was away from the bar while the bartender and supervisor talked about him, so I eavesdropped. Apparently he%26#39;s a local regular, the supervisor was trying to determine how much $$$ he usually spent so she could determine how many Red Bulls to comp him.

The bartender told her he usually dropped a hundred or so per visit, and I think she eventually signed off on 3 Red Bulls, which the bartender could make 3 drinks out of.

I know Red Bull is more expensive than coke or orange juice, but geez!!!

Anyway, PS is one of the better locals casinos, I think. Never stayed there, so I can%26#39;t help you with the rooms question.

Thank you all so much for the help. I think I will just pay for the upgrade when I get there. Does anyone have any info on the poker room? How is the drink service there?

Ask for the O.J. Simpson suite.
