Hi- going for fist time in June-I have seen on the forum talk about the taxis, and the tunnel-we%26#39;re staying at the Mirage-now when we catch a taxi from the airport, do we tell them do not take the tunnel? I know last summer I got ripped off in Florida-a 10 min cab ride-turned into 20 minutes-he said he wanted to avoid traffic, but being familiar with the area, I knew exactly what he was doing--(boy that infuriated me!) How do we handle? Thanks! This forum has been great for newbies!
Newbie-question about taxis from airport
Most here will tell you to take a taxi and tell them ';no tunnel'; (particularly since you are going to Mirage). I think most here will tell you to tell the driver to take the Swenson route.
I have been going to Las Vegas at least once a year since 1979 and have been ';taken for a ride'; enough times that I have stopped using taxis in LV. Probably many here will say this is an over reaction. I use one of the airport shuttle companies to get me to and from the hotel, and the Deuce to move up and down the strip. If you decide to use the airport shuttle, don’t book it when you make your reservations. When you get outside baggage claim, look for the shuttle company with the most shuttles and the shortest line. Usually it will be Bell Trans or CLS. If your party is more than 2, it will cost you more than a taxi. The shuttles usually are grouped by hotel locations to minimize the stops.
Newbie-question about taxis from airport
if you knew what the driver in Fl was doing why didn%26#39;t you stop him the minute you discovered he was long-hauing you?
IN LV politely tell the driver your destination and say ';no tunnel, please';. quite easy
I was tunneled last year and the freeway stopped, so if I remember right the trip to Mirage cost something like $24!
Definately go up swenson.
Last year I stayed twice at Mirage and rode a shuttle called CLS limo service back to the airport.(I think that%26#39;s the name) He told me both times he only went between Mirage and the airport. It was quick, clean, and painless.
Didn%26#39;t see anything on their website but really liked the service.
thanks- as far as not telling the driver, or stopping him, he made a turn, then I realized we shouldn%26#39;t have turned-I asked him about it, that%26#39;s when he said he was avoiding traffice (which was a bunch of bull)plus I had my son in the car, so as much as I wanted to tell him and his taxi where to go- I had to refain my self-the only satisfaction I got was when he dropped us off at the hotel, I think the fair was about $6.97, and told him to keep the change, and called him an idiot! (which is not like me, usually I%26#39;m very nice!) thanks for the adivice!
