My wife and I ate dinner in the Prime Rib Room at the Riverside last evening. What do you want first.....the good or the bad. Well, here goes.
The Good - The food was good. My wife enjoyed her prime rib and my Mahi Mahi was fine. All of the sides were good tasting and hot.
The Bad - Terrible, terrible service. We waited 20 - 30 minutes after finishing our salads to order the main course (meat). No waiter in sight. Once ordered it came out quickly. I had only water with my meal. I had to go into the men%26#39;s bathroom next to the salad bar twice to refill it in the sink before and during dinner. It appeared that the couple of waiters who were running around were intent on spending most of their time trying to impress with their singing instead of their waiting on customers. (Neither seemed to be working for them.) The room was extremely loud. It was difficult to talk over the noise. It is a large, open, gym like room. It is not set up very well for wheel chairs. There were two in the area where we were seated. It was difficult for me to get past them to get to the men%26#39;s bathroom to refill my water glass. There were 22 people waiting next to the check-in desk when we finally left with people grumbling about having reservations but having to wait well past that time. And finally, a minor complaint. We were not aware that it was basically a buffet, other than for the main course. Nowhere did I see it advertised as that. After a long day of teaching and coaching, I was looking forward to being waited on during a quiet dinner in a nice atmosphere. That didn%26#39;t happen.
In conclusion....never again. Been there, done that.
Riverside Prime Rib Room......Never Again
There is no excuse for the bad service you and your wife experienced at the Riverside Prime Rib room.! If that happened to us we wouldn%26#39;t go back either. We went there 2 weeks ago and had excellent service. Must have been there on a good night. We had a waiter and his helper (they were both so good couldn%26#39;t tell which was our actual waiter) we tipped the both of them! Our cocktail server was prompt also with bringing our glass of wine for dinner. The waiter explained the procedure to us. He told us to get our salads and after finishing that do the potato bar. Then they would know when to bring the main course(Maui Maui also). And sure enough right when we sat down with our hot baked potato there they were with the Maui Maui. We were offered coffee with our desert and refills were offered on a regular basis (our water glasses too!). It was hard getting around though, kind of like a maze with walkers and wheel chairs around but the food was hot and tasted great! The service, for us was fantastic, and the view that evening was nice and relaxing to look at. It was weekend and busy!! So if it can be done orderly and efficient on that night there is absolutley no excuse for the bad service you and who knows how many others that night recieved!! If we hadn%26#39;t had a waiter that communicated with us and told us the order of things we would have been so confused and frustrated ..that is something my husband and I talked about after leaving that night. We did experience a bit of rudeness and a lot of confusion when in line (we had reservations) waiting to be seated. The cashier and hostess weren%26#39;t friendly or efficient. People were confused on which line to be in and there were people waiting for a long while. When we left after dinner the line was long and people were sitting on the sofa area and most of them had not so nice looks on their faces...sorry again about your bad experience Grif..again no excuse for the horrible service you recieved!!
Riverside Prime Rib Room......Never Again
katmac..........I am pleased that you had a great experience. To me it is far more important that our visitors have a good time than us locals. You folks are our bread and butter so to speak. Viva Laughlin!
Have a bit different opinion of the Riverside than does JBB.The rack room rates are high when compared to some of the other hotels,so usually do not stay there. However, recently was offered a three day room comp and took it.The room was just fine, even though it was in the older north tower, and it had a river view. This club has a large no smoking casino section at the south end.The buffet and cafe are okay as Laughlin places go.Have never eaten in the high end restaurants,so cannot comment. As a serious horse player,my main reason for liking the place is its race/sports book, imo the best in town.Have patronized all six of the local racebooks, and much prefer the Riversides.Only one away from the slot machine noise, large no smoking section, good sound and graphics, and good players club to earn comp credits on.
Grif, you are very gracious in your comment. That is why you are so well liked and known on this forum. If it wasn%26#39;t for you and the wonderful locals of Laughlin it would not be the town that it is. And I think everyone deserves the same good service while dining out and etc....our monies are all hard earned and we all deserve the same courtesy whether visiting or living there...we are home now after 4 months visit...will be back next year..take care
See you next year kat. Thank you for the nice comments.
Sorry you had a bad time. Was this wed night? This besides Fri and Sat are the most crowded days there. Even though my wife works there imo i can get a better meal except buffets at most of the other restaurants on 95. Not as busy.
