Beware of Tripres.com

We booked hotel for vegas on 23rd. While we were on the way to vegas, one lady called up and said they couldn%26#39;t confirm. After reaching Vegas, we spent 2 good hours searching for hotels, what a spoiler !! Never book with these guys.

Beware of Tripres.com

That stinks! I know hindsight and all but... no matter where I book my room thru, Expedia or other or direct with hotel, I always call before I leave to confirm my reservation. I would imagine it cost you more $$ as well. Couldn%26#39;t Tripres have found something else for you? CP

Beware of Tripres.com

Here%26#39;s one of several threads on them, most of which advise against using them.

The forum search function can be a wonderful thing!

It boggles my mind when people use a third party instead of booking direct, so you pay in advance, give up comped rooms, and may not get a room at all.

I used them once when I was a silly newbie, won%26#39;t do it again. I actually didn%26#39;t have any problems, I had a standard room at Bellagio and somehow we lucked into getting a view of the fountains, everything went smoothly, no complaints- just paid more than I should have because I didn%26#39;t know any better.

Thank you for letting us all know of your experience so we don%26#39;t have it happen to us. Will never use them. Very sorry for your troubles, but I hope you were able to find a hotel and have a wonderful time in spite of the rough beginning.

Liz

I must be the lucky one. I booked them just last month for 7 days for the Four Queens. I got a great room on the 17th floor, king, smoking, and a great rate. I usually book direct but I got the room for $47 a night with tripres and the Four Queens website was much higher and would not match the tripres price.

';It boggles my mind when people use a third party instead of booking direct, so you pay in advance, give up comped rooms, and may not get a room at all.';

I have used several third party booking sources in the past, at significant savings, with no problems. Expedia, Hotels.com, and Travelworm definitely. Don%26#39;t recall using Tripres.com.

I agree that all things being equal I prefer booking direct for the flexibility, one night room deposit, and sometimes better room assignment. For some of us room comps are not a consideration, we don%26#39;t risk enough at the casino.

I wouldn%26#39;t let one poster%26#39;s bad experience, who hasn%26#39;t bothered to respond to follow-up questions regarding specifics, change my hotel booking strategy.

In rereading the post: ';While we were on the way to vegas, one lady called up and said they couldn%26#39;t confirm.'; Perhaps this poster booked real close to departure? Who knows?

Something similar just happened to me! I booked a hotel 2 days ago on their website and received a confirmation the next day. This morning I received an email asking me to call them. Well, I tried calling for an hour but couldn%26#39;t get through!! I sent them an email asking them what the issue was, and they simply replied ';Sorry, the hotel is not available.'; Unbelievable! I sure hope they refund my credit card as quickly as they charged it!

I usually use Hotwire and get pretty darn good deals. After having spent about $15,000 in hotel reservations over the years through them, I%26#39;ve never had a problem. There have been one or two less-than-satisfactory hotels here and there, but nothing really bad and probably not more than if I reserved direct. I often call to confirm the reservation, though, if I feel a bit iffy.

Just when you think this forum HELPS people and most who visit it LEARN from it, you again find out that people still do not book direct.

It can only SAVE you money and is the only way to get a lower rate if and when they drop.

Why is this concept so difficult?????
